The Timberwolves need to get more guards that can run the pick and roll very efficiently. They have a top 3 big man in the post who can also pick and pop if needed. Jeff Teague was good in the 43 games he played last year, and the Timberwolves should aim to keep that veteran on the team as a mentor for younger guards like Jarrett Culver, Josh Okogie, and Jaylen Nowell. With Teague mentoring these guys to be efficient in the pick and roll, KAT could even become an MVP canidate because his usage rate would skyrocket.
The Timberwolves have been handing out huge contracts like it's candy. Andrew Wiggins is making more money than KAT, and he is cearly underperforming. Gorgui Dieng is making over $16,000,000 a year, but he only scores 6 points and 4 rebounds per game. We need to get rid of both of these players immediatly. A deal that surely would be possible, is sending Wiggins and a top 10 Protected 1st round pick to the Nuggets for Paul Millsap. This benefits both teams because the Nuggets will have a good bench Shooting Guard, being Gary Harris, and the Timberwolves are short at the PF position because they have Robert Covington starting, who should be a Small Forward. Millsap is also on the last year of his deal, which will help the wolves make a little splash in the 2020 free agency class. A trade that the Timberwolves can do for Gorgui Dieng is send him to the Wizards for Ian Mahimi. It is a bit of a downgrade for the Twolves, but the contract is expiring. This will give the Timberwolvws an extra $30,000,000 to spend during this free agency class. With this money, they can sign guys like Marc Gasol, Kyle Lowry, Mike Conely, or Danilo Gallinari. The options are endless for the Timberwolves, they just need to excecute it properly.
The Timberwolves have multiple young assets that they must keep. Some of these assets include KAT, Jarrett Culver, Jaylen Nowell, and Josh Okogie. They need to make sure they keep these assets and build around them. They all have a very high ceiling, and we cannot give them up for anything.
